An elderly wife cares for her husband who fell into a vegetative state after collapsing during a hot spring trip with his mistress. Recalling how selfish her husband had been since their honeymoon, she spends her days in gloom. But then she learns he treasured the handmade tie she gave him, and she remembers how happy she was when he awkwardly presented it to her... A collection of four short stories, including the title piece, Kusobaba no Uta.
