One morning Katie's father collapsed from a heart attack and was taken to the hospital in an ambulance. In the midst of the chaos, an angry man named Carlton Reef calls them. Afterward Katie goes to Carlton's office to learn that her father's business venture has failed, which in turn means he lost all his properties and damaged Carlton's company financially. On top of everything else, this news was more than Katie could bear. But her tears move Carlton and he hugs her tightly.
