Tekkaman is an ordinary, cheerful boy in his daily life, but modern science has the ability to transform him into a formidable space warrior. This becomes a reality when hostile aliens arrive from space to invade Earth. Armed with a space lance, Tekkaman bravely leaps into action against the grotesque extraterrestrial creatures. During his battles, he meets a mysterious young man from another planet who comes to his aid whenever he is in trouble.

The pilot film for Grendizer, Uchuu Enban Dai-Sensou, follows Duke Fleed, an exiled prince from Planet Fleed who was compelled to flee his home world after the Vega forces invaded it. Before the war erupted between their planets, Duke Fleed and the Vega princess were in a romantic relationship. In spite of that bond, the Vega military continues its unyielding assault on Duke Fleed.

This story focuses on the adventures of Zoum, a white dolphin, together with two children who make their home with their uncle, a sailor. The group also contains an intelligent mynah bird that is able to translate between dolphins, various animals, and the humans on the island, as well as a koala and a sloth. During their travels, Zoum happens upon a beautiful female dolphin whose name is Za-za-zoom in the English adaptation, and the two of them eventually have a child together.
