Born in Tokyo on September 6, 1930, Akiji Kobayashi was a Japanese actor who passed away on August 27, 1996, at the age of 65 due to lung cancer in Yokohama. Throughout his career, he was sometimes credited under the names Shouji Kobayashi or Issei Mori. While he had a diverse acting portfolio, he is perhaps best recognized internationally for his portrayal of Captain Mura (Muramatsu) in the 1966–1967 television series Ultraman. Another significant television credit includes his role as Toubei Tachibana, known as "Oya-san," in the 1971 series Kamen Rider.
