Personal Information
Born in New York City to parents of Puerto Rican heritage, Debra Cardona discovered her passion for theater during grammar school. She pursued formal training by earning a BFA in Drama from New York University, where she studied under Stella Adler, and later obtained an MFA in Dramaturgy from Brooklyn College. Following years of regional and Broadway performances in musical theater, Cardona secured her first television role in 2014 on "Scandal," portraying a Senator vetted by President Fitzgerald Grant as a potential running mate. Her subsequent screen credits include appearances in "Fresh Off the Boat" and "Angel From Hell," both in 2016. In 2017, she was cast in a recurring role as Estela, Hector's mother, on the series "Crazy Ex-Girlfriend." Cardona is married to voice actor Darin De Paul.
