Born on October 10, 1954, in Obihiro, Hokkaido, Yoshie Taira is a Japanese actress who completed her education at St. Margaret's Junior College in Suginami, Tokyo. Between 1985 and 1999, she served as a regular cast member on the TBS prime-time drama Ōoka Echizen, portraying Yukie, the wife of Ōoka Tadasuke. Her extensive career in jidaigeki also includes appearances in series such as Gokenin Zankurō, Mito Kōmon, and Abarenbo Shogun. On stage, Taira has performed in numerous productions, including Akai Tsuki, Nemuri Hime, Koi Yamabiko, Benkei, Shishi o Kau — Rikyū to Hideyoshi, Zenigata Heiji, and Kawaite Sōrō. In the field of voice acting, she provided the voice for the mother in Doogie Howser, M.D., voiced Amy Hasting in an episode of The New Perry Mason, and dubbed Abigail Bartlet in The West Wing. Additionally, Taira has acted in films and featured in television commercials for brands such as Yōmeishu and Kao.
