Toshiyuki Nishida is a Japanese actor celebrated domestically for his role in the fishing comedy franchise Tsuribaka Nisshi (The Fishing Maniac's Diary), which has expanded to include twenty-one films. Internationally, he is perhaps most recognized for his performance as Pigsy in the television series Monkey. His career has been marked by significant critical acclaim, earning ten nominations for the Japanese Academy Award. He secured the Best Actor honor twice: first in 1988 for Dun-Huang, and again in 1993 for his work in Gakko and Tsuribaka Nisshi 6. Additionally, Nishida received the Blue Ribbon Award for Best Actor in 2003 for Get Up! and Tsuribaka Nisshi 14.
