Personal Information
José Luis Gil is a Spanish actor, director, and voice artist with a career spanning television, theater, and film. He is perhaps best recognized for his portrayal of Juan Cuesta in the Antena 3 comedy series "Aquí no hay quien viva" (Here's No One Lives) and his subsequent role as Enrique Pastor in the Telecinco adaptation, "La que se avecina" (The One That Comes). However, his work in dubbing dates back to the mid-1970s. Throughout his extensive career, he has lent his voice to numerous international stars, including Patrick Swayze, Tim Allen, Hugh Grant, Brandon Lee, and Woody Harrelson. In the realm of animation, Gil is widely known for providing the Spanish voice for Buzz Lightyear in the Toy Story franchise, as well as for the character Marlin in both Finding Nemo and Finding Dory. His professional activities were interrupted in 2021 when he suffered a stroke, prompting him to step away from acting to concentrate on his recovery. He has not granted any interviews since that time. In 2024, his daughter stated that while Gil was recovering slowly, she believed a return to acting was unlikely. By November of that same year, it was officially confirmed that he would not resume his career in the acting world.
