Personal Information

Brian Bloom was born in Merrick, New York, and is the brother of producer-actor Scott Bloom and musician Mike Bloom. Developing an early interest in acting, he appeared in various commercials as a child before securing his major breakthrough in the Sergio Leone film Once Upon a Time in America. This success led to the role of Dusty Donovan on the hit soap opera As the World Turns, a part he held for several years. During this tenure, Bloom achieved the distinction of becoming the youngest winner of a Daytime Emmy Award in the Outstanding Young Leading Man category at the 12th Daytime Emmy Awards for his performance on the series. Eventually growing weary of the scheduling demands of the soap opera genre, he departed the show to pursue starring roles in television movies and numerous guest appearances. Following his exit from daytime television, Bloom headlined several made-for-TV films focused on teenage themes, including Crash Course (1988), Dance 'til Dawn (1988), and Desperate for Love (1989). These roles paved the way for subsequent appearances in Melrose Place, 2000 Malibu Road, CSI: Miami, Law & Order: Special Victims Unit, Drive, and HBO's Oz. He portrayed the fanatical cult leader Jonas Sparrow in the Joss Whedon series Dollhouse. Additionally, Bloom starred in a series of 1994 television movies as Bandit, a character loosely based on the iconic role played by Burt Reynolds. He continued his collaboration with Joe Carnahan, co-writing and voicing the private mercenary "Pike" in the 2010 film The A-Team, a 20th Century Fox feature directed by Carnahan based on the popular television series. Bloom has expanded his career into voice acting for animation, video games, and commercial voiceovers. His recent commercial work includes a series of spots for the 2009 Cadillac Escalade Hybrid, directed by Joe Carnahan. In gaming, he voiced Alex Shepherd in Silent Hill: Homecoming, Kane in Kane & Lynch: Dead Men and its sequel Kane & Lynch 2: Dog Days, and Jackie Estacado in The Darkness II. His animated and game credits also include voicing Captain America in The Avengers: Earth's Mightiest Heroes, as well as in the video games Marvel vs. Capcom 3: Fate of Two Worlds, Ultimate Marvel vs. Capcom 3, and Marvel Heroes. He provided the voice for William "B.J." Blazkowicz in Wolfenstein: The New Order and Wolfenstein: The Old Blood. Furthermore, Bloom has voiced several characters for BioWare titles, most notably the dwarf storyteller Varric Tethras in Dragon Age II (2011) and its sequel Dragon Age: Inquisition (2014). Outside of his acting career, Bloom's hobbies include writing, cooking, and designing and building furniture. He owns and operates an online store named Animal World Network. He also practices a rare martial art known as bojuka.
