Born on August 29, 1972, in Seoul, South Korea, Bae Yong-joon is a prominent South Korean actor celebrated for his extensive work in television dramas. Among his devoted fanbase, he is frequently referred to by the abbreviation BYJ or by the honorific title Yon-sama. His filmography includes roles in the 1995 film PpilKu, the 2003 production Untold Scandal, and the 2005 movie April Snow. His television career features a wide array of significant roles across various networks. In 1994, he portrayed Kim Yong-min in Salut D'Amour (Love Greeting) on KBS. The following year, he appeared in multiple KBS productions: Six Steps to Separation, A Sunny Place of The Young, and Papa, where he played Choi Hyun-jun. He also starred as Jang Moo-hyung in the 1995 PSB series Sea Breeze. Continuing his work with KBS, he took on the role of Sung Chan-woo in First Love (1997), appeared in The Barefooted Youth (1998), and played Gang Jae-ho in the MBC drama Did We Really Love? (True To Love) in 1999. In 2001, he starred as Shin Dong Hyuk, also known as Frank, in the MBC series Hotelier. This character was reprised in the 2007 TV Asahi adaptation of Hotelier. His most internationally recognized role came in 2002 as Kang Jun-sang/Lee Min-hyung in the KBS hit Winter Sonata (Winter Love Story). In 2007, he portrayed King Damdeok and King Gwanggaeto (Jyushin) in the MBC series The Story of the First King's Four Gods. Additionally, he provided voice work for the 2009 animation Winter Sonata, a production by Key East and Total Promotion.
