Personal Information
Born in Amakusa, Kumamoto Prefecture, Japan, Kan Takahama made her debut in 2001. She first gained recognition for her short stories published in the alternative magazine Garo, which were subsequently collected and republished in her award-winning Kinderbook. Her distinctive artistic style frequently explores the darker aspects of daily life, utilizing simplistic character designs and illustrations that merge manga with Franco-Belgian comics. Takahama is internationally celebrated for the manga Nyx no Lantern, which secured the 24th Osamu Tezuka Cultural Award in 2020.
