Personal Information

Kazuo Kamimura studied at the Musashino Art Academy and initially worked as an illustrator. He made his debut in 1967 with "Kawaiko Koyuri-chan no Daraku." Throughout his career, his illustrations adorned a vast number of books and record covers. Kamimura was known for breaking existing taboos; notably, in 1972 he created a scandal with "Dousei Jidai," which depicted the swinging cohabitation of an unmarried couple. During the 1970s and 1980s, he established himself as an artist for demanding adult Manga (Gekiga). Extremely productive, he drew approximately 400 pages per month. He passed away on January 11, 1987, from a tumor in his pharynx.
