Keiko Matsuzaka (松坂慶子), born on July 20, 1952, in Ōta, Tokyo, is a Japanese actress of mixed heritage; her father was a naturalized South Korean and her mother was Japanese. Beginning her career as a child actress during the 1960s, she transitioned to adult roles with Daiei before signing with Shochiku in 1972. Her filmography includes the iconic "Madonna" role in the 1981 film Naniwa no Koi no Torajirō, the 27th entry in the Otoko wa Tsurai yo series, a character she reprised in 1993 for Torajirō no Endan, the 46th installment. Other notable film credits feature Legend of the Eight Samurai (1983), Shin Izakaya Yūrei (1996), Dr. Akagi directed by Shōhei Imamura (1998), Runin: Banished by Eiji Okuda (2004), and the 2007 release Inugamike no Ichizoku. Matsuzaka has been honored with the Best Actress award at the 6th Hochi Film Award for her performances in The Gate of Youth and Tora-san's Love in Osaka, and again at the 15th Hochi Film Award for The Sting of Death. Her television career began early with a role in the 1968 tokusatsu series Ultra Seven. She portrayed Nohime, the wife of Oda Nobunaga, in the 1973 NHK Taiga drama Kunitori Monogatari. Between 1973 and 1981, she appeared in Edo o Kiru, notably playing the character Oyuki across five seasons. In 1975, the Taiga drama Genroku Taiheiki cast her as Aguri (Yōzen'in), the wife and widow of Asano Naganori, depicting the events surrounding the Forty-seven Ronin. She returned to the same time slot in 1979 with Kusa Moeru and later starred as Sada (Kawakami Sadayakko) in the 1985 Taiga drama Haru no Hatō. Returning to the Aguri character lineage, she played Riku, the wife of Oishi Yoshio, in the special Chūshingura Yōzen'in no Inbō, which aired on January 2, 2007. Her extensive television work spans jidaigeki, contemporary dramas, variety shows, and specials, including a recent portrayal of "Ikushima" in the 2008 NHK Taiga Drama Atsuhime. Beyond acting, Matsuzaka has served as a spokesperson for numerous companies in television commercials, representing brands such as Nippon Menard Cosmetic Co., Nissin Foods, Yutoku Pharmaceutical Industries, Nissan Sunny, Rohto Pharmaceutical Co., Kleenex, and Ōtsuka Foods. Her diverse portfolio also includes song releases in 1979 and 2002, as well as a photography book published in 2002.
