Ai Kago is a multi-talented entertainer known as a J-pop singer, actress, and author, as well as a Guinness Book of World Records holder for hula hooping. Her career began in 2000 at the age of 12 when she won the 4th National Audition organized by Up-Front Works Agency. This victory secured her spot as a fourth-generation member of the renowned girl group Morning Musume. That same year, she also joined as a founding member of Mini Moni. In 2004, Kago graduated from both groups and subsequently formed the duo W with Nozomi Tsuji. Her professional trajectory faced significant challenges in 2006 when media outlets leaked photographs of the underage Kago smoking. Consequently, Up-Front Works Agency immediately suspended her for one year. However, near the end of this suspension in 2007, she was discovered smoking again and revealed to be in a romantic relationship with a 37-year-old man. These incidents led to the permanent termination of her contract. Following a year-long hiatus, Kago signed with R&A Promotions Co.,Ltd and successfully resumed her work as both an actress and a singer.
