Born in Newcastle, Wyoming, Kurt Bauer spent his childhood in Spearfish, South Dakota, nestled in the Black Hills where his parents continue to reside. He attended Black Hills State University as a theater major, studying under the direction of Al Sandau. Although he relocated to California immediately after graduation to launch an acting career, those plans were temporarily suspended due to several factors, including the birth of his daughter. The family subsequently moved to Houston, Texas, where Bauer still lives. He resumed his acting work in stage productions in 2001 and secured an agent later that same year. Since then, he has been cast in numerous commercials, industrial films, and feature films. Bauer intends to pursue additional national projects in the future.
