Keye Luke, whose Chinese name was 陸錫麒 and Cantonese name Luk Shek Kee, was a Chinese-born American actor who passed away on January 12, 1991. He gained fame for portraying Lee Chan, the "Number One Son," in the Charlie Chan film series, as well as for originating the role of Kato in the Green Hornet film serials released between 1939 and 1941. His extensive career included voicing Brak in the 1960s Space Ghost cartoons, appearing as Master Po in the television series Kung Fu, and playing Mr. Wing in the Gremlins films. Luke holds the distinction of being the first Chinese-American contract player signed by RKO, Universal Pictures, and Metro-Goldwyn-Mayer, establishing himself as one of the most prominent Asian actors in American cinema during the mid-twentieth century.
