Born Chiyo Konno on October 22, 1982, in Morita, Aomori, Japan, Rio Matsumoto is a multifaceted entertainer working as an actress, singer, model, and fashion designer. Standing 162 cm tall with a weight of 40 kg, she is a Libra with blood type B and is currently represented by the talent agency Topcoat. Earlier in her career, she performed professionally under the name Matsumoto Megumi. Her contributions to the anime industry as a staff member include work on several notable titles. Under her current name, she served as a 2nd Key Animator on episodes 5 and 10 of Eden of The East, handled animation checks for episode 5, and contributed to the film Eureka Seven - good night, sleep tight, young lovers - as a 2nd Key Animator at Doga Kobo. She also worked as a 2nd Key Animator on the film Evangelion: 2.0 You Can [Not] Advance and the TV series Gurren Lagann and Tokyo Magnitude 8.0, all credited to Doga Kobo. Additionally, she provided animation checks and in-between animation for Guin Saga and performed animation checks for the special Lupin III vs. Detective Conan. Working previously under the name Megumi, she contributed to the music of Rumbling Hearts by performing the third ending theme song and wrote the lyrics for the first ending, second opening, and sixth ending themes of Saber Marionette J Again. Her voice acting credits include a role as Kitchener in episode 9 of Bakuten Shoot Beyblade G Revolution. While credited as Megumi, she voiced all female characters and served as an assistant in the TV series Kimagure Robot. Matsumoto has also appeared in various live-action productions and anime under the name Rio Matsumoto. Her live-action roles include Reika "Ochoufujin" Ryuuzaki in the 2004 TV series Ace wo Nerae! and Wakaba in the live-action special Gokusen Special: Sayonara 3-nen D-gumi. She also starred as Tomie Kawakami in the film Tomie: Beginning. In animation, she provided the voice for the childhood version of Yū in Ef - a tale of melodies.
