Yumi Adachi is a Japanese actress, model, and singer who performs under the artistic surname of her mother's maiden name. Born Yumi Hasegawa on September 14, 1981, in Taito, Tokyo, she began her career in modeling at the age of two. Her debut as a J-Pop singer followed on June 23, 1993, when she was nearly twelve years old. Adachi achieved her major breakthrough in 1994 with her role in the drama Ie Nakiko.
