Toyotarou has been drawing Dragon Ball since his youth, often sketching the series immediately after breakfast. Originally a doujinshi artist known as Toyble, he gained recognition in the 2000s for creating the Dragon Ball AF manga. In 2012, Shueisha hired him after he expressed a desire to illustrate Dragon Ball Super, marking his official debut as a manga artist under the name Toyotarou. His first official project was the Dragon Ball Z: Resurrection 'F' - Special One Shot, a manga adaptation of the 2015 film of the same name. Following the creation of a two-page demonstration for Dragon Ball Super, Akira Toriyama selected him as his successor. Toyotarou serves as the official artist for the Dragon Ball Super manga. By the time of the Universe Survival Saga, his role expanded to include character design for the series, where he creates designs either independently or in collaboration with Toriyama.
