In the empire of Szaalanden, during an invasion by Wischtech, the Emperor dispatched fourteen young warriors. The Seven Heroes successfully repelled the invaders and brought about an era of peace, while the four Lances of Betrayal were thought to have been defeated. Twenty years later, the Lances of Betrayal resurface, leading a band of brigands near the frontier region of Gormbark. A mysterious figure wielding a black sword and bearing a scar across their left eye single-handedly eliminates an entire militia unit. Known as a young man named Kóinzell, this individual inspires both fear and hope, even as their past, motives, and goals remain unclear throughout their journey.

Background

Übel Blatt was serialized in Young Gangan magazine until the 22nd, 2009 issue, after which it took a short hiatus and restarted in Big Gangan magazine in 2011. The series was published in English by Yen Press as 2-in-1 omnibus volumes from October 28, 2014, to December 24, 2019. The publisher also released the manga as 3-in-1 deluxe omnibus volumes. It was also published in Spanish by Norma Editorial from May 14, 2014, to October 29, 2021; in German by KAZÉ Manga since October 8, 2014, to June 4, 2020; and in Italian by J-POP from September 30, 2008, to October 23, 2019.
