Long ago, a mighty demon lord ruled over humanity until a hero rose up to defeat him. To prepare for future dangers, Rosewood Academy was established to train prospective heroes. In the present day, the academy accepts only the most elite students, with Arnest Flaming standing at the very top. Known as the top student and called "Empress of Flame," Arnest is a diligent person whose daily life is disrupted when she collides with a relaxed boy in the corridor—one whose skills match her own, yet she has never seen him before. He introduces himself as Blade, a new transfer student, and the King has personally requested that Arnest help him adjust to life at Rosewood Academy.
