Sirius no Kizuato

A teenage boy named Takeru Tachibana fights to reclaim his sister Sayoko from a "cyborg dogfight circuit." When Takeru was ten, an enemy air-raid bombed his town, killing his parents and leaving him mortally wounded. Overwhelmed by "survivor's guilt" and a "co-dependent" inability to cope with living alone, Sayoko impulsively sells her brain to the Albion Corporation—led by the enigmatic CEO Véltare Marçeau—to fund a risky surgery that might or might not save Takeru. Her brain is implanted into a cybernetic body; the procedure essentially erases her memories and amplifies her aggression. She becomes known as The White 13, or "The Ice Doll," and for five years fights in a gladiator-style dogfight circuit against other cyborgs, eventually becoming the grand champion and earning the rank of "sirius." The story starts shortly after Takeru has freed his sister from the circuit, only to discover that outside it, Sayoko's brain contains a "self-destruct" mechanism, and she is dying. Takeru has one week to find a way to cure her or return her to the circuit—or she will die. Compounding the problem, the Albion Corporation relentlessly pursues "their stolen property," and a cast of characters each bear their own scars of some kind.
