In a future where humans live underground to escape the radioactivity caused by nuclear war, ESP people who occasionally appear are called "P"—meaning "Perplexer"—and are shunned and persecuted. Stella tries to acknowledge that her son Srow is a P and to commit suicide with him. However, only Srow survives, and he is taken by Yang, a close friend of Stella.
