Akatsuki no Musuko

暁の息子

Shusei was only six years old when his father lost his life during a trip to Myanmar. Taken in by the local people, he was given a new name—"Shan Ba Ru," meaning "Son of the Dawn," or in Japanese, Akatsuki no Musuko. He grew up among the Karatoa tribe, the people who adopted him, and eventually became one of their soldiers. A decade later, a Japanese journalist travels to Myanmar to look into the mysterious disappearance of his brother-in-law and the man's son. His daughter Sonomi secretly follows him, determined to locate her cousin "Shuu-chan." After a series of mishaps, she winds up lost in the jungle, surrounded by armed militia—until she is rescued by Shan Ba Ru and the Karatoa tribe. Sonomi soon recognizes him as Shusei and urges him to return to Japan with her. Caught in a tangle of local and international politics, Shusei finds himself torn between his duty to protect the people who raised him and the possibility of going back to his homeland.
