Long ago, a powerful maou named Astaroth invaded the human realm, plunging the world into chaos. In time, a band of heroes succeeded in defeating him, robbing him of his abilities and sealing him deep beneath the earth. After several centuries, whispers spread that recent tremors had shattered the seal, allowing the maou to break free. Seeking fame and fortune, bold adventurers descended into Astaroth's underground maze, intending to destroy him. Unbeknownst to them, they were falling into a snare laid by the maou himself.
