By the latter half of the 21st century, humankind has left Earth behind and settled in space. To adapt to their new life and protect against alien forces approaching from Jupiter, specially engineered young people called "Princes" are raised and trained from birth to pilot combat mechas designated AHSMB (Advanced High Standard Multipurpose Battle Device). The story follows Hitachi Izuru, one such teenage Prince, as he attends school in the academic city of Grandzehle.
