In Devil Survivor 2: Show Your Free Will, a website called Nicaea sends its users videos predicting how they will die. After Io Nitta, Daichi Shijima, and Hiro Kageyama each receive a clip showing their friends meeting a sudden end, they brush it off as a fluke—until an earthquake and train crash bring those predictions to life. Surrounded by darkness, Io must choose between dying or surviving; she opts to live, then awakens to find herself with Hiro, Daichi, and strange beings that demand to be managed properly. The trio soon learns they are in the custody of JP, a covert emergency response organization, and that they have become "devil summoners" after encountering the same creatures that attacked them. Now humanity faces extinction from the Septentriones, evil entities determined to destroy Earth. With their fates bound together, Io, Daichi, and Hiro must work together to protect what remains of their world from total annihilation.
