After waking from a two-year sleep, Laharl finds out that his father has died and inherits the kingdom. Taking control with overwhelming force seems like the obvious choice. Even though Laharl is new to being an Overlord, he has the demon girl Etna and the angelic but somewhat oblivious Flonne to help him become the most powerful ruler in the Netherworld. To reach that goal, he has to repel countless foolish demons trying to take his throne, stop a plot that crosses dimensions, and keep his own underlings from killing him. Difficult? Absolutely.
