The narrative follows Sabu, a young detective working for the Edo shogunate, who journeys alongside Ichi, a blind but highly capable swordsman. The pair collaborate to unravel mysteries and correct injustices, frequently confronting crimes perpetrated by brigands or corrupt government figures. Sabu is betrothed to Midori, the daughter of his boss, who also serves as a police officer under the Tokugawa shogunate.
