Keisuke Mio, a high school student, has trouble forming meaningful romantic connections, noticing that his past girlfriends remained distant despite being in relationships with him. On a rainy day, while taking cover under an apartment building's awning, he notices an umbrella on a windowsill and attempts to take it. The umbrella's owner, university student Kakeru Yugi, who lives in that apartment, suddenly appears and tells Mio to keep the umbrella and leave promptly. Baffled by Yugi's strange conduct, Mio eventually brings the umbrella back, only to be asked to play mahjong by Yugi's friend, Tachibana. Over time, Mio ends up visiting Yugi often and begins to develop romantic feelings for him. However, his growing attraction is put to the test when he secretly witnesses an interaction between Yugi and Tachibana, leading him to question and reassess his emotions.
