In "Guardian Hearts," Hina—known as the Guardian Heart—comes to Earth with a mission to maintain peace, forced to keep her true identity a secret. Her assignment takes an unexpected twist when Kazuya accidentally witnesses her transformation. He insists she move into his home, arguing that family members are not subject to her confidentiality rules. As more magical girls appear and expose themselves to Kazuya, Hina's existence becomes more chaotic. Kazuya gets caught up in the conflicts and romantic interests of these girls, turning his everyday life into anything but normal.

Background
Guardian Hearts was first partially published in English by Tokyopop, who published five volumes, with volumes 2-5 published in 2-in-1 format, from July 8, 2008 to December 28, 2010. VIZ Media later took over the license, and published five volumes, same as Tokyopop, under the VIZ Select imprint, from September 15 to November 17, 2015, before dropping the license.
