Koutetsujou no Kabaneri

During the Industrial Revolution, a new kind of monster appears—one that can only be killed by piercing its heart, which is encased in an iron shell. These creatures turn people into frenzied undead known as Kabane through their bites. On the eastern island of Hinomoto, humans build fortified stations for protection. Steam-powered trains called Hayajiro travel between these stations, carrying people and supplies. Ikoma, a boy who works on building Hayajiro at Aragane Station, develops a personal weapon he names Tsuranukizutsu to fight the monsters. While waiting for a chance to test it, he encounters Mumei, a girl who is excused from the mandatory Kabane inspection. Later that night, Ikoma sees Mumei again when a Hayajiro goes out of control—its crew has turned into Kabane. As the station comes under attack, Ikoma finally gets the opportunity to use his weapon against the creatures.
