In the year 20XX, Shinichi Kanou is a typical otaku, completely absorbed in anime, manga, games, and light novels, though this obsession has done little to earn him popularity. Unbeknownst to him, Japan has discovered a portal to a parallel world near Mount Fuji. The people of the Eldant Empire are especially intrigued by Japan's pop culture. Enter Amutech, a covert "general entertainment" company operated by the Japanese government. Shinichi is appointed as the firm's general manager, allowing him to use his deep knowledge of nerd culture to bring the otaku lifestyle to the Eldant Empire. To accomplish this, he must work alongside an unusual group that includes a half-elf maid, an empress, and a female soldier.
