In a reality where the Western Planet and the Eastern Planet were once linked by the heavenly "Dragon Pulse," a once-flourishing civilization now lays in destruction, torn apart by endless conflicts. Advanced technologies known as "sacred treasures" hold the power to transform the worldwide power structure, yet only one person—a "heretical girl"—knows of their existence. Jeanne Kaguya d'Arc, a girl from the Western Planet, receives divine visions that foretell the arrival of a "Star Messiah" who will save the world. Joined by Leonardo da Vinci, "the observer of the world," she sets out on a trip to the Eastern Planet. There, they encounter Oda Nobunaga, the region’s own heretic and "greatest fool of the age."
