In this celebrated shounen series blending sword and sorcery with futuristic elements, Japanese mythology takes center stage. A prophecy foretells that Emperor Miroku's reign of terror will end at the hands of a young hero destined to open the gateway between the human realm and Agalta. To prevent this, Miroku ordered his newborn, possessing immense power, to be dismembered into eight parts, each entrusted to one of his eight wicked generals. The infant was then cast into a river, only to be saved by Tatara, who gave him the name Madara and fitted him with artificial limbs. Madara grows up alongside a girl called Kirin. Upon turning fifteen, he is given the sword Kusanagi and embarks on a quest to recover his original body parts. Throughout his journey, Madara unravels the truth about his father, his lineage, and his own powers.
