In the 73rd graduating year at the Defense University on the small planet Kibi, the cadets' final exam consists of a shakedown cruise aboard the newly built starship Amaterasu. While traveling back home, they receive urgent news: the aggressive Kingdom has launched a war against Kibi. Even after their planetary government surrenders unconditionally, the students choose to resist using the Amaterasu. To secure funding, they strike a deal with a galactic news network, transforming their fight into a live reality show. But this reality show carries genuine stakes, with survival always at risk.
