Steam Boy

In mid-nineteenth-century Victorian England, during the Great Exhibition that showcases cutting-edge technology, the story follows Ray, a young boy whose family is known for their inventive genius. From an early age, Ray has devoted himself to building remarkable steam-powered machines. His life changes when his grandfather Lloyd returns from the United States, where he had been working with Ray’s father on a confidential project for the global Ohara Foundation. Lloyd gives Ray a mysterious metal sphere that releases an immense amount of energy. This gift puts Ray in danger as various corporate agents and their enemies pursue him, each eager to seize the artifact in order to realize their own ambitions—most notably, the creation of the colossal war machine called the Tower Steam. The narrative explores conflicts across generations—father, son, and grandson—as their differing beliefs and ideals clash, all while offering a sharp critique of contemporary society and the horrors of war.
