Naota, an ordinary sixth-grader in Japan, has his life thrown into turmoil after his older brother leaves for America to play baseball. His brother's 17-year-old girlfriend, Mamimi, remains behind and bewilders Naota with her mixed signals and teasing behavior. The chaos escalates when Naota is struck by a woman named Haruko riding a Vespa. Upon first meeting, she hits him with her guitar, causing a horn to sprout from his forehead. Haruko's arrival further disrupts Naota's everyday existence.
