After an unknown spacecraft crashes on Earth, humanity confirms the existence of alien beings. The United Nations unites across national and cultural boundaries to construct the SDF-1 Macross using parts from the downed vessel. On its maiden voyage, the ship unexpectedly destroys a Zentradi fleet, igniting a cosmic war. While attempting to flee to the Moon, the Macross, with a city attached, is inexplicably transported to deep space. Amidst the harsh realities of war, pilots Hikaru Ichijou and aspiring singer Lynn Minmay, along with bridge officer Misa Hayase, navigate a perilous journey marked by tragedy and conflict.
