Soul agents—also known as Charon—are emissaries of the netherworld assigned to the realm of the living. Their mission is twofold: guiding wandering spirits to their rightful place, and battling malevolent ghosts that threaten the mortal world. Xia Ran is an ordinary youth who recently lost his job, yet he possesses an ability that sets him apart: he can see spirits, things normal people are never meant to perceive. One night, he happens upon the spirit king's would-be bride and is rescued by a stranger who calls himself a soul agent. From that moment, the wheel of fate begins to turn. As Xia Ran comes into contact with more and more spirits, he gradually comes to realize that he himself is anything but ordinary.
