In a reimagined 1960s, two rival superpowers—the Zirnitra Union and the United Kingdom of Arnack—rose from the ashes of a brutal war. The Union secretly launches the Nosferatu Project, using vampires as test subjects for spaceflight. Though similar to humans, vampires are despised and feared, making them ideal "guinea pigs" for such hazardous missions. Lev Leps, a soldier and aspiring cosmonaut for the Union, is assigned to monitor the vampire Irina Luminesk, designated N44.
