Gold Pollen and Other Stories
黄金花粉
Akatonbo
Born in 1945, Seiichi Hayashi was a key figure in Tokyo's avant-garde art scene of the 1960s and 1970s. He is most recognized for his poetic and innovative manga published in Garo, the well-known alternative comic magazine. This collection brings together several of Hayashi's significant works from that era, such as "Red Dragonfly" (1968), "Yamauba's Lullaby" (1968), and "Gold Pollen" (1971). Presented in their original full color, these pieces blend traditional Japanese art with Pop Art influences, covering topics like the impact of Japanese right-wing nationalism and World War II, as well as America's influence on Japanese youth culture in the 1960s.
