In a remote region of the galaxy, the Human Galactic Alliance struggles to survive against the terrifying Hidiaazu alien race. During a fierce battle, Lieutenant Redo and his humanoid combat mecha, Chamber, are pulled into a spatial anomaly. Waking from suspended animation, Redo finds himself on Earth, a forgotten world where the entire planet is submerged under water and its people live on massive fleets of floating ships, scavenging ancient relics from the sea. Landing on the Gargantia, one such fleet, Redo meets Amy, a 15-year-old messenger aboard. Unfamiliar with Earth's history and customs, Redo adapts to this new setting, discovering a peaceful existence that contrasts sharply with his war-torn past.
