Maria no Shiro

In the spring of 1921, during the Taisho era, Ichijou Maria became an orphan and was taken in by a family acquaintance. After suffering physical abuse at the hands of the new household's father, Maria made the decision to flee. Wandering the streets, she eventually collapsed in front of her former home. There, a young doctor by the name of Toudou Sei discovered and aided her. When Maria learned that the house had been turned into a dormitory for physicians at the Imperial Maria Hospital, she recalled her father's dying words—"I was deceived by Toudou!"—and took a job there as a maid using a false name, driven by a need to uncover the truth behind her father's claim.
