Following the loss of her family in an unexplained fire, Soon-Doong refuses to be consumed by grief and relocates from Yanbian, her hometown, to South Korea for a fresh start. Armed with just a plane ticket, minimal clothing, and a charred letter linking her grandfather to a "textile factory owner" in Seoul, she aims to find employment at that factory and build an honest new life. Once there, she learns that the factory owner is actually the CEO of the nation's top clothing brand, and her grandfather's connection goes beyond friendship—he had once saved the CEO's life and provided the startup capital for his enterprise. In Korea, Soon-Doong encounters prejudice against ethnic Koreans from Yanbian and strives to alter perceptions of their way of life.
