Perched on a cloud-shrouded floating island above the bustling Saitama district, Naraka High School promises social advancement to its graduates. Anyone who catches sight of the school after submitting an application is granted admission. For Momiji Rokudou, this represents a hopeful fresh start and an opportunity to forge a different course. Upon entering, each student picks a word to inscribe on their arm—a word meaningful for the journey ahead. Momiji selects the kanji for "change," eager for transformation. Yet this change quickly turns grim when monstrous beings invade the campus, claiming lives. To earn their diplomas, Momiji and their classmates must navigate and endure the relentless onslaught of these creatures, turning academic goals into a struggle for survival amid the chaos. After all, who would have guessed that high school could become so perilous?

Background

Aphorism originally ended with 14 volumes and 84 chapters (81+ 3 side stories) on January 28, 2016. Serialization resumed on March 21, 2022 under the title "Aphorism Dainibu" (アホリズム第弐部). The chapter count was reset to 1, but the volume count continued with 15. The series has been published digitally in English by Yen Press since November 24, 2015.
