In the realm of Polyphonica, spirits derive sustenance from human music and coexist with humanity. Most spirits remain unseen, but the more powerful among them can assume human or animal forms to interact with people. Dantists, musicians who perform special pieces known as Commandia, command great respect and frequently form bonds with mighty spirits. The narrative follows Phoron Tatara, a hopeful Dantist, his contracted spirit Corticarte Apa Lagranges, and their companions as they navigate daily life and their duties.
