Kobayashi Kouji is transferring to Aoba High School, where his older brother has recently begun working as a teacher. The school was long known as a prestigious all-girls high school, and only a few years have passed since it became co-ed. Because of that, the number of male students is small, and the girls still hold the real power within the school. To stand against this female rule, Kouji starts a kendo club together with some of the other boys. In the class he transfers into, he meets the academically gifted Yoshikawa Misao, who turns out to live in the apartment right next to his—so close that they can talk to each other from their windows. As Kouji and his kendo club clash with Misao and her baton club, the two slowly begin to understand each other.
