In the city where Mikagura Kiriwo lives, enormous monsters cause destruction. Following in his father's footsteps, Kiriwo develops a serum that temporarily transforms him into a giant monster. When he uses it to defend the town from a monstrous threat, he soon realizes that people also see him as an enemy. The media and his classmates all hate the "black monster," blaming him for the widespread destruction from the battle. A fellow student is forced to leave school because of the trouble caused by the "black monster." Can Kiriwo prove that his transformed form is meant to save them?
