High above Earth, Archangel Michael has grown tired of humanity's stagnation and moral decay. The angels now face a critical choice: either exterminate humans or protect them. To decide, "Plus Checkers" will search for positive traits in humans, while "Minus Checkers" will look for negative ones. Whichever side reaches 10,000 points first will determine humanity's fate. Chihaya and Kagetsuya, who were classmates during their time at Eden's military academy, find themselves on opposing sides of this evaluation mission and are assigned to work together on Earth. Chihaya stands out among angels due to his black hair, eyes, and wings. Although he seems innocent, he possesses immense power, which irritates Kagetsuya. Chihaya feels disconnected from his fellow angels until a mysterious ailment known as the Black Cancer begins spreading through the heavens, turning victims' wings and hair black and causing them a painful death. As tensions mount among the angels, especially between Chihaya and Kagetsuya, it becomes clear that the future of both Earth and Eden may depend on Chihaya's choices.

Earthian was published in English by Tokyopop's Blu Manga imprint from October 30, 2005 to August 8, 2006. This edition is composed only by 4 volumes, as well as the Japanese bunko edition, while the Japanese non-bunko edition has 5 volumes.
